چکیده

The identity of Ceropegia hirsuta in Thailand has been questioned. Although this plant is quite similar to the original C. from India, being entirely hirsute, with yellowish-shaded flowers, a curved, funnel-shaped corolla tube, and broad lobes shorter than there are several clear differences morphological traits between materials collected type further specimens India. Moreover, s.s. restricted Peninsular In study, using molecular phylogenetic analysis based on DNA sequence data for ITS (nuclear) trnT-L, trnL, trnL-F (all cpDNA) markers, classical morphology-based delineation, we demonstrate that represents species its own clearly separated as well all other known congeners. Therefore, here describe it new species, citrina, sp. nov. A detailed description, illustrations, photographs provided, together comparison hirsuta, another Thai foetidiflora. We also provide characterization floral volatile compounds pollinators. Our study emphasizes convergence may lead errors taxonomic treatment within genus Ceropegia, relationships largely congruent geographic distribution.

Neotypification of Ceropegia Palustris and Lyonia Maritima (apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae)

Ceropegia palustris Pursh and Lyonia maritima Elliott (Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae) are currently recognized as synonyms of Funastrum angustifolium (Pers.) Liede & Meve. The diminutive vine, one of the most readily recognizable taxa among a number of taxonomically difficult climbing milkweeds in the southeastern United States, occurs primarily in swamps, hammocks, and salt marshes. A neotype i...

Pollination System and ex Situ Fruit Set in Ceropegia juncea Wight (Apocynaceae)-an Endemic Species of India

Pollination in the species of Ceropegia juncea Wight (Apocynaceae: Ceropegiae) in Southern India is discussed based on observation from ex situ grown plants. The study confirmed pollinators are small, mostly female Dipteran flies, ca 3 mm long, which carry pollinaria on the proboscis. The most important factors for an insect to effect pollination appear to be the appropriate overall size, mouth...

Ceropegia sandersonii Mimics Attacked Honeybees to Attract Kleptoparasitic Flies for Pollination

Four to six percent of plants, distributed over different angiosperm families, entice pollinators by deception [1]. In these systems, chemical mimicry is often used as an efficient way to exploit the olfactory preferences of animals for the purpose of attracting them as pollinators [2,3]. Here, we report a very specific type of chemical mimicry of a food source. Ceropegia sandersonii (Apocynace...
